Mockingbird
Little mockingbird, little innocence
Sitting up in your tree
You play a beautiful song
To be heard by all
And you keep away from trouble
But when a gun comes along
You start to sing “so long”
And you fly away to better days
Why did you go? I’m sure you know
None of them mean any harm
Come back and take me with you
Whisk me away
And maybe you and I
Will one day, be forever changed
We saw way, into the sun
We’re almost free
We can break this barrier
And fly, fly away
And have peace and serenity
But then a gun came along
You said so long
You left me high and dry
Why did you go? I’m sure you know
None of them mean any harm
Come back and take me with you
Whisk me away
And maybe you and I
Will one day, be forever changed
Spread your wings
Take your flight
Everything will be alright
Let’s soar away
Away from yesterday
Until we reach our heaven
Why did you go? I’m sure you know
None of them meant any harm
Come back and take me with you
Whisk me away
And maybe you and I
Will be forever changed
And maybe you I
Will stay forever changed
