Leatherman
The people of New England see him,
A dark figure dressed in black.
On his 34 day circle,
The Leatherman is back.
Every winter, every summer,
Through any kind of weather,
He walks 10 miles a day,
In his heavy suit of leather.
He never says a word,
All he wants to do is roam.
He lives in his caves,
And he lives to die alone.
In the town of Lyons, France,
The Bourglays had a son,
He fell in love with Miss Margaret,
Her father had him undone.
He said "If you want my daughter,
You'll have to prove your worth"
So he brought him to his leather shop,
And he put him to work.
So every winter, every summer,
Through any kind of weather,
He walks 10 miles a day,
In his heavy suit of leather.
He never says a word,
All he wants to do is roam.
He lives in his caves,
And he lives to die alone.
He lost his job and he lost his girl,
So he disappeared without a trace,
He showed up years later across the sea,
And he walks his route in his disgrace.
So every winter, every summer,
Through any kind of weather,
He walks 10 miles a day,
In his heavy suit of leather.
He never says a word,
All he wants to do is roam.
He lives in his caves,
And he lives to die alone.
