I Almost Kissed You There
In my bed, not moving,
Letting tears slide from my eyes.
It's nothing real, I'm sorry I feel
Much more than a common fly.
Cause my heart beats inside
When our bodies collide.
I know it's not an accident
Cause trust me, I know you meant it.
To tear away my smile
And hold it in your fists awhile.
It hurts much more when I'm awake,
But in my dreams, my pain is still at stake.
And the emotional stress,
Well, you're the one that did the best
At dragging me down
For the second time around.
Innocent is what you make of me,
And mostly that's true
Cause I'm not sticking around
Just to fool around with you.
There's a meaning to every kiss,
And to every single touch.
If you can't respect that,
Then you can't respect much.
I want you to know
That all I see
When I look at you now
Is how you thought you'd use me.
To tear away my smile
And hold it in your fists awhile.
It hurts much more when I'm awake,
But in my dreams, my pain is still at stake.
And the emotional stress,
Well, you're the one that did the best
At dragging me down
For the second time around
A year ago; you could have changed.
Over time, my feelings rearranged.
I thought I got over you,
But really I was never through.
Now I don't even care.
Though, when I see you standing there,
I remember you laughing happily
As we laid there and you smiled at me.
When I was holding your hand
And I'd ruffle your hair.
With your big green eyes, I couldn't resist:
I almost kissed you there.
