Lightening
Your love was like lightening.
One minute it was there,
The next it was gone.
It blocked out the rain that came with the storm,
Protecting me from the hail.
It hit me when I was least expecting it,
Scary, powerful, electrifying.
Sending energy under my skin,
Straight to my heart.
It made everything around me so vibrant,
So clear and full of life.
It made me vibrant and clear and full of life.
But then it filled me with shivers and chills.
The heat was gone, instead it was cold,
So cold.
The jolt was still there,
But now it made everything fuzzy and confusing.
Everything around me became nothing but blurs,
Leaving me stuck in one place with no way out.
With no where to run.
No where to hide.
No one to go to.
And just like that, it was suddenly gone,
Leaving me shocked in a stupor.
It made me shut everything out,
It made my world suddenly dark,
Lacking the light I was starting to get used to.
But I know lightening never strikes in the same place twice.
It just comes and goes.
And that’s why your love was like lightening.
One minute there,
The next gone.
For good.
