Just Like You
I didn't take the time to listen
At that point I didn't care what you had to say
 But now I look around
 And you're not here today

There were so many things I wanted to tell you
But I just didn't get to
 Now I pray to God
Asking him if he could just tell you that

I love you, miss you, need you, long to hear you
I know in Heaven there's no pain
But when you died, all it did was rain
But you did leave something with us
And she is growing up to be just like you: Loving, kind, and joyous

She asked us why you weren't moving
 Why you wouldn't wake up
She reached for a hug from her daddy
And we didn't know how to explain
 You were no longer there
 You were no longer smiling
 I called your phone
Just to hear your voice again
And now the man that killed you
 Lives in jail, alone

There were so many things I wanted to tell you
But I just didn't get to
 Now I pray to God
Asking him if he could just tell you that

I love you, miss you, need you, long to hear you
I know in Heaven there's no pain
But when you died, all it did was rain
But you did leave something with us
And she is growing up to be just like you: Loving, kind, and joyous

 She looks just like you
 With her big brown eyes
 And her contagious laugh
 Don't worry Jeremy,
We are taking care of her
And we can't wait to see you again

There were so many things I wanted to tell you
But I just didn't get to
 Now I pray to God
Asking him if he could just tell you that

I love you, miss you, need you, long to hear you
I know in Heaven there's no pain
But when you died, all it did was rain
But you did leave something with us
And she is growing up to be just like you: Loving, kind, and joyous

 Loving, kind, and joyous
 Loving, kind, and joyous
 Just like you
