Your Smile

Hot summer night in Memphis
Didn’t know what you were thinking
Didn’t know that you were sinking
Deep into the depths of the unknown
Please don’t leave me alone
I feel you protecting me from the rising tide
I feel your presence by my side
You’re drifting out to sea
Are you still here with me?

You in a video
You playing pool
When I fell and you picked me up
It was the last time I held you
Laughing and joking, your music played
But a thunderstorm raged in your head
Thought you were staying for awhile
Caught up in the light of your smile

I still feel your touch on my hand

I think of you every day
And life will never be the same
How can it be
I wish you were here to see
Although you’re gone you still belong
Your memory etched deep in my brain
But now you’re no longer in pain

You in a video
You playing pool
Wave goodbye from the front porch
It was the last time I saw you
Laughing and joking your music hid
The despair that was setting in
Thought you were staying for awhile
Caught up in the light of your smile
There was something that I missed behind your smile

Do you hear me when I say your name?
I wonder if I was to blame
The tears fall down my face as I drift to sleep
Lying there as I start to weep.
I feel your presence come my way
(Hello....I’m okay)

You in a video
You playing pool
When I close my eyes at night
That’s when I talk to you
Laughing and joking with all of us
I know its time for waking up but
Just let me dream here for awhile
Caught up in the light of your smile
Caught up in your light
