Breathe My Soul
My world came crashing down,
and you stood by to watch.
I used to fear that frown,
but you should turn it up a notch.
When I lived my old life,
I faced my old fears.
Now all day brings a knife,
and closer to my heart it nears.
Selfishness consumed me,
and my life I wanted.
Everything is clouded and filthy,
help is here in my eyes flaunted.
Breathe my soul,
let your old life fade.
Take a deep breath,
and smile on your own.
No one will come between us,
if those who care stay away.
Now I need to clean this mess,
and bring myself to stay.
Give me a reason,
to live this life of shame.
Now anger is in season,
my being has gone lame.
Breathe my soul,
take away the pain.
Take a deep plunge,
into the days to come.
This is not my fate,
this is only temporary.
The end is coming late,
to all my pain contrary.
I live to see a new day.
I smile on my own.
I see things in a new way,
my heart is not on loan.
Breathe my soul,
the war is won.
The sun will rise again,
the east will light up.
