Who I am today
Layin' in bed,
Just tryin' to get some sleep,
Thoughts are racin' through my head,
They come abundantly,
Got my mind on mommy and mommy on mind,
Playin' back those memories,
Seems like the thousandth time,
Cold and vacant stare,
A heart without a beat,
He brushed aside her hair,
and tried to hear her breathe,
CPR wouldn't win,
And then finally,
The metics pulled in,
They freakin missed our street,
But I know,
I know It'll be ok,
The sun'll come out always,
Everyday is a good day,
Just take a moment to appreciate,
And I don't,
I don't need to push 'em away,
Memories are here to stay,
Just stand up and be brave,
That's why I am who I am today,
Forty minute drive,
At the sky I stared,
Hoped she was alive,
Mind full blast in prayer,
By the time we arrived,
Pegasus had been there,
Took her off the pony ride,
Rushed into intensive care,
Not a lot to say,
Silence filled the air,
What was the delay,
Everyone was scared,
We sat and waited,
For answers to be bared,
The doctor stated,
She's in coronary care,
But I know,
I know It'll be ok,
The sun'll come out always,
Everyday is a good day,
Just take a moment to appreciate,
And I don't,
I don't need to push 'em away,
Memories are here to stay,
Just stand up and be brave,
That's why I am who I am today,
On a different floor,
In another waiting room,
Doctors came through the door,
There was little they could do,
They offered operation,
It almost promised doom,
There was no time for patience,
He said decide soon,
Stood beside her bed,
It was just us two,
Leaned down and kissed her head,
By this point I knew,
Searched for the right words,
Said my last goodbye,
Even though it hurt,
Didn't let myself cry
But I know,
I know It'll be ok,
The sun'll come out always,
Everyday is a good day,
Just take a moment to appreciate,
And I don't,
I don't need to push 'em away,
Memories are here to stay,
Just stand up and be brave,
That's why I am who I am today.

You've gotta take the good with the bad, smile when you're sad, love what you got and remember what you had. Always forgive but never forget, learn from your mistakes but never regret. People change and things go wrong but always remember life goes on
