The Forgotten Child
She hears her name called.
What is it this time?
What did she do wrong?
He raises his hand for the blow,
She does not cry. For her pain she must not show.
She is the Forgotten child.
But it's time for the world to know.
Do they see?
Can they tell?
Or does she really hide the bruises that well?
She is the Forgotten child.
But it's time for the world to know.
Behind the doors his eyes turn evil.
His words, that of hate.
Some nights what's left of her is truly up to fate.
In the public eye however, he smiles and holds her tight. For she is his daughter and they do not fight.
She is the Forgotten child.
But it's time for the world to know.
Still, she smiles.
There is good in the world, she knows.
One day she'll escape the horror that is all she has ever known.
She is the Forgotten child.
But it's time for the world to know.
She wonders how much more she can take.
Before the time comes, and she breaks.
She is not strong. (She is) just a girl after all.
Will there be anybody to catch her before she falls?
Or will there come a morning when she does not rise at all?
Cause she is the Forgotten child.
and the world does Not know.
