Empire
The gates of a once glorious kingdom, now painted with rust
Books of old ways and ancient magic, now covered with dust
Restless bodies buried underneath my feet
Their spirits cry out for mercy after all those centuries

They counted the years by those who died
They said some battles where justified
Though more than enough blood and tears were shed
Even when the enemies were dead
 Power was never satisfied
Mother Earth drinks the blood of sacrifice
 And seeks her revenge
Forcing man to pay the highest price
But can't there be room for compromise?
I have seen it all, yet I've never been there
Empires may stand strong and tall
 But eventually crumble and fall

I walk alone in the woods, only seeking peace within
Earth's natural cycles and unforeseen changes return again
Some people claim that air will always be free
But tell me why some of us are denied a chance to breathe?

Would you trade your empire's blood for power and gold
Or would you find a way for the truth to be told
Your gold may buy you freedom
And power may buy you reason
But the children and the Earth will bear your burden
