Save a Star for Me
I see the moon is full tonight,
And the darkness has come alive with your energy.
I can feel you in my heart
As the night sky fills me up.
I know you’re watching me.
It seems so bright up there,
But I am glad I’m here.
I see the sky’s alive tonight.
Your 18th birthday.
The candles burn so bright up in Heaven.
I see your star.
I know the one you are,
But I have one favor to ask.
Won’t you save a star for me?
I want the one right next to you,
And we can both stay close to the moon.
I feel you with me.
God I am so proud to have known you.
I’m in the dark, but I don’t feel lonely.
I know you’re here.
And I can almost see
The moon shining off your auburn hair.
I’m thinking of you tonight.
Don’t feel lonely.
I know you’re watching,
But I’m watching you too.
I see you there,
Telling stories with the moon.
I see the sky’s alive tonight.
Your 18th birthday.
The candles burn so bright up in Heaven.
I see your star.
I know the one you are,
But I have one favor to ask.
Won’t you save a star for me?
I want the one right next to you,
And we can both stay close to the moon.
The moonlight through the trees
Illuminates your form.
Happy birthday, my friend.
You’re eighteen.
I’m lighting a candle for you.
I love you. The sky’s alive tonight,
And for me,
So are you.
I see the sky’s alive tonight.
Your 18th birthday.
The candles burn so bright up in Heaven.
I see your star.
I know the one you are,
But I have one favor to ask.
Won’t you save a star for me?
I want the one right next to you,
And we can both stay close to the moon.
Won’t you save a star for me?
I see the sky’s alive tonight.
Your 18th birthday.
The candles burn so bright up in Heaven.
I see your star.
I know the one you are,
But I have one favor to ask.
Won’t you save a star for me?
I want the one right next to you,
And we can both stay close to the moon.
And I’ll be close to you.

I wrote this for my friend who committed suicide. It was her 18th birthday this month. I always want her to know that she is so loved!
