The Headlight Game
The night sky
can't see the stars
cause she's in too deep
yeah she's in too far
The headlights
they shine so bright
until they fade away
into the night
He leaves her for the first time
He leaves her going out of her mind
she's looking
for regret
where she knows
she can't find it
she's trying
to hold on
but her lifeline is long gone
never again, never again, never again
The hurt that
she can't conceal
she disbelieves
but it's still real
This game she knows
it has to end
it's time to break
yeah she's too far bent
He leaves her with a hollow heart
He leaves her and her world falls apart
she's looking
for regret
where she knows
she can't find it
she's trying
to hold on
but her lifeline is long gone
never again, never again, never again and again and again
She step onto the pavement
She looks up at the sky
She can't see the stars, she's in too far
Her heart races as she turns
Sees the headlights coming for her
She thinks aloud
"I hope you're happy now"
she's looking
for regret
where she knows
she can't find it
she's trying
to hold on
but her lifeline is long gone
she's looking for regret
she will never find it
she gives up holding on
because her lifeline is too far gone
never again, never again, never again and again and again
never again, never again, never again and again and

If I had a penny for every time someone hurt someone who loved them, by their words or their actions, or simply by doing nothing when something was so desperately needed, I would have enough cash to eradicate cancer. They don't realize it, but just leaving is enough to make that step onto the busy freeway the simplest alternative to the pain.
