The Hanging Tree

The roses were red
The violets were blue
The sugar was sweet
Just like you
But the roses have wilted
And the violets are dead
The sugar bowl is empty
And my heart full of regret
I trusted you with my heart
You threw it away
I guess now
There’s nothing left to say
I thought that I was happy
But now I know how much you hurt me
Chorus;
I hate you with my whole heart
You laugh as I  fall apart
I guess I was wrong
When I said you were the one
I thought you would change
when I felt the pain
of your hand on my cheek
When you said not to speak
( I cannot eat, I cannot sleep
I cannot breathe when
Your right next to me x2 )
I used to paint lovely pictures
But now the tale has a twist
For the brushes are razors
And the canvas is my wrists
I’m tired of this pain
And all this sorrow
I’m tired of waking up
Can’t do it again tomorrow
I feel like I’m drowning
And starting to struggle
I see bruises after we cuddle
I feel I’m fighting a long lasting battle
You branded me just like a cattle
Chorus;
I hate you with my whole heart
You laugh as I  fall apart
I guess I was wrong
When I said you were the one
I thought you would change
when I felt the pain
of your hand on my cheek
When you said not to speak
( I cannot eat,
I cannot sleep
I cannot breathe when
Your right next to me x2 )
I never thought this would happen
My face you just kept bruisin’
And I have to leave without ya
Yeaaa
I hate the way you smile
Reminds me of a crocodile
I don’t wanna see you for a while
I thought you would change
when I felt the pain
of your hand on my cheek
When you said not to speak
( I cannot eat,
I cannot sleep
I cannot breathe when
Your right next to me x2)
I find my best dress
My makeup without smears
I put my hair up pretty
My eyes filled with tears
I stand on the chair
Ready to end my life
I see you in the mirror as I say goodbye

What inspired me to write this is that I wanted to step outside my comfort zone of writing fun fiction for children.
