Of Kings and Coroners
A wild and strange ride one will always find,
When riding through life, how hard must one really try?
In looking for purpose, one must clear one’s mind,
Some search low, others look high; ready, FLY!
Take flight like the proud goose, majestic flight,
As kings are born to be, with power and pride,
Constantly watching their backs, protecting might.
Life is not guaranteed even on this ride.
As the birds do sing, one must watch the light.
Should it fade to purple, similar to veins,
As deep as it runs like a river with might,
Darkness approaches and with it brings pains.
To love is a feeling that should not be missed,
A torch in the night, the darkness has’t kissed.

This poem was inspired by a friend. One day we began to talk about life and how a dichotomy exists between good things and bad things. Our conversation turned towards how the good things usually outweigh the bad things in life but how bad actions can drag you downward much farther than a congruent good actions. This poem is about the hope that exists and keeps us above our bad actions.
