Without The Trigger
A frightened child is hiding alone,
The night beckons horrors beyond control,
To fathom light, a skill I wish were shown,
Keep my guard up, walls protect and patrol.
Nightmares seep through, sleepless nights weaken minds,
I try to fight, the past can't control me,
The image of the future leaves me blind,
Fears behind, my future will set me free.
Soon I depart, leave bittersweet goodbyes,
Shadows of my horrors tend to linger,
Still I may experience lows and highs,
Strength I build, a gun without the trigger.
The darkness beckons courage from within,
But still I fight and I promise to win.
