Mine.
Nerves buzz through my bare skin, touching the air
All the best friends gossiping, chattering
Frigid, icy water dripping through our hair
Across the start line, girls are scattering
The gun is unsheathed, a spark in the heat
Suddenly a precise BOOM! fills the air
Heavy breathing, ponytails, pounding feet
Flying fast and high, feel the wind through my hair
But I no longer have no time to lose
Eager, watchful eyes tracing our progress
My heart says I can no longer choose
It feels like I’m running in my prom dress
But it no longer matters; yes, the high
Because the victory was never mine.

I wrote this sonnet for my ELA class as an intro to poetry, I messed up a few times but that's alright :)
