Nyctophobia
Faceless monsters chase my cries
Grasping fingers make me scream
In the end I close my eyes
Open them, its just a dream
Shiver frightened in the dark
Look for something I can't see
Fading nightmares make their mark
On what's plain reality
Voices murmur in the night
Evil words and frightful howls
So close now yet out of sight
Something cold and wicked prowls
Pull the covers over me
Hide me from what's in my room
Something my dreams have set free
Something that will find me soon
Tears are seeping from my eyes
As the dark envelopes me
Something inside of me dies
Something that will never be
I can feel it closer now
By my bedside, breathing deep
A presence that will not allow
My tortured mind to fall asleep
It just sits there, watching me
I feel its power strengthen
With every frightened breath I heave
It renders resolve broken
Faceless monster, leave me be
Again, you've won the fight
I fall back into grasping dreams
Away to eternal night
