Sounds of War
The sound of gun so distant yet so near
One man runs with another fearless night
Ear piercing screams engrave the mind with fear
And thoughts of home consume the mind with plight
The glow of fire fills the eyes and dies
While men with haste run fast across the land
A mortar fires shells across the skies
And turret shells abound with each command
The hate and anguish are so very seen
In good and bad but one is by the edge
One road bomb bursts on top a human being
And man’s first move acts as a sort of wedge
So in the end it is not in the win
But in the men who gave their lives for kin
