It was just a dream
I go to sleep and it hangs over me
It’s trying to protect but somehow fails
I’ve been sucked in; it will not let me be
It has taken over and I am frail
Tossing and turning throughout the whole night
Breathing is hard and I’m gasping for air
No escaping, it has found my fright
It looks me in the eye and holds the stare
It holds me under and doesn’t let go
Until I jolt awake and find myself
Scared and shaking with fear so I lay low
Under my covers but I fear itself
Will come to me and it will only grow
Where these dreams are coming from, I don’t know.
