Raindrops
Like tears down the cheeks of heaven
Fat raindrops pound out an undying beat
Like a metronome, steady and even
Quenching thirst and dispelling heat
Into a frothing sea of endless blue
And white waves that kiss the lonely shore
Torn by the wind into a broiling brew
Caught between nature and desire in an internal war
Frozen in endless white
Left in an eternal winter
Left bereft of joy, empty of delight
It shrinks from the heat to a splinter
If life is a cycle, are we the ice
Or are we the raindrop, content to roll the dice?
