Don't Tell me Those Lies
Do not claim to hold me high
Then leave me all alone,
Do not dare love me so
And give me none to hold
I wish not to be a beauty
Given so much light,
So that you can take it away
And leave me in the night
Told so many complements
Have so much adore,
But then they leave me in the cold
Waiting for some more
Why must I be just a picture
Of the perfect plan,
Then they find another
And leave me to be damned
Cursed to be the center
Of every passing glance,
Then they leave me to suffer
And I become the end
So I beg you not to hold me high
If you plan to leave,
Don’t tell me my beauty cannot compare
Or I mean everything
It truly is a lie
Soon you’ll find another,
And you’ll deny
That you ever thought me higher.
