The Way They Shine
My mind drifts often to the stars at night.
I wonder as I watch them from afar
do they see me as they shine so bright?
I also want to know who owns those stars.
She smiles as they oft look back at her.
But mine, they drip with sadness constantly.
And for those stars the world they watch over
I know it is not for me they seek.
But since my constellation is no more
I find those stars they really aren’t so bright.
They dim within the sight of something more.
But as I try to close mine to the sight,
I somehow hope that one day I will find
the shine in yours will jibe the shine in mine.
