Letting Go
A stranger holds you in her heart, have you heard?
I'd watched you by the poolside,
as you'd look at the water, your smile blurred -
showing that you had something to hide.
I fell in love with your scarred smile,
and decided that I was going to try and fix you.
armed with courage, I decided after awhile,
to show you my love, and start anew.
One day I saw a fellow, braver than me,
who approached and gave you love.
My anger flared, but as far as I could see,
she healed you, and you were her beloved.
Though you do not know me; that much is clear,
but I shall protect your smile forevermore, my dear.
