All my life I wanted a mother
Some bigger, stronger woman to hold my hand
To fix all my silly mistakes when things go unplanned
I always compared myself to some other

I wanted someone able
Someone to paint my nails
To tuck me in at night and tell me fairytales
Always searching for something stable

But I have myself
That’s the best I can do
I will put the storybook on a shelf
And try not to bite off more than I can chew
The problem will never fix itself
So I’ll try my best to love you for you
