April 23
I woke up in the morning and looked out
The window there was blackened by your tears
But even then my mind had not a doubt
Your life meant much by lasting all those years
I missed you as I went to brush my teeth
Somehow the stairs seemed longer than before
Rememb'ring how your hair fell like a leaf
I cried and could not make it to the door
The world is but a mystery, you'd said
I hoped 'gainst hope that you were not so right
But then the devil snatched you from your bed
And suddenly my life had lost all light
One thing I know, and this for certain true
Wherev'r you are, I'd rather be with you.
