Ocean's Breath
I love the way the sand feels ‘neath my toes.
It burns my feet. I like it anyway.
You can’t squish freezing snow between your toes,
and when your feet feel cold it isn’t fun.
I bend toes up and down to feel them move,
since sometimes in the cold they don’t know how.
I love the way the water tickles me.
It cools the scorching from the sunburnt sand.
I splash and run and duck beneath the waves,
And glide, and float on salty Ocean’s breath.
When Winter breathes it’s simply not the same.
She blows the snow off trees to fog the sky
And turns the blue to white so she can laugh.
I couldn’t see the trees right next to me.
