Favorite Quote:
A smooth sea never made a skillful sailor.

With me, trust me, your love is in good hands,
I won’t take it and throw it down for dead.
Although sometimes I may make strong demands,
I hope time with me won’t be time you dread.

Remember looking back at our first kiss,
or the time we laid under the night’s sky?
Now you are someone I will always miss,
then I’ll see you and I can’t help but cry.

My memories are filled with times we shared
and maybe a few times our hearts had curled.
From distance long and now that distance squared,
I miss you more than anything in the world.

They made me love you through each endeavor,
that’s how I knew I’d love you forever.

I wrote Leaving in honor of my boyfriend, Jack, who left for the military almost a year ago. While it has been difficult, we have allowed our memories to remind us day after day why we chose to be together. I hope this short Shakespearean sonnet will give a nice outlet to anyone who is struggling without the prescence of someone they love.
