Kate Beckman writes about how open young people are in their social lives through social networking in “Discretion: Teens’ Greatest Fear.” She describes the open behavior most teens exhibit in today’s world, and she explains that many teens are too open on social networks. Kate writes that many teens are very open about their lives to gain attention and popularity. I strongly agree with Kate’s writing. Before I sign into facebook, I can almost predict whose status I am going to see and what it is about because the same people constantly write statuses just to gain attention. More than half of the statuses I see are completely absurd: I don’t want to hear about how yummy someone’s cookie was, and I really don’t want to see a picture of the cookie. There is no importance in these statuses, but they seem to be the most popular. It does not make sense to Kate or me, and I don’t think we will ever know.
