I love going out to fancy dinners and splurging my low teenage income on nice things while I am still young and highly appreciative of it, but very rarely do I get to do this. When I generally go out to eat, I look for not-so-pricy, friendly and relaxed restaurants; the types of restaurants where you can relax and be yourself in. I do still hold a certain standard for these restaurants, although, and the Blue Adobe Grille completely exceeds my standards for what I look for in a restaurant. The Blue Adobe Grille is able to combine the relaxed and friendly atmosphere with high quality and delicious food. It’s a restaurant in Scottsdale on Frank Lloyd Right and Shea that refuses to coincide with the cliché futuristic, expensive, “rich people” city cuisine. It is basically saying, “I can serve great food and make people happy without trying to impress the high-class society of Scottsdale in itself.” Walking into the restaurant, you pass by the patio which is generally filled with people. It’s a happy environment with people laughing and a beautiful blue tree lit up in the middle. Entering the front door, the friendly hostess is always at your beck and call. Being that I am not 21 and don’t have the option of sitting in the bar, I am able to choose inside or outside seating. Most of the time I choose inside, but outside is just as nice. Outside seating at the Blue Adobe Grille is a great, quiet option if you’re on a date. It is romantic, and in the evening, the weather is usually pleasing. On Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, there is live music in the bar that can be heard around the entire restaurant. This makes the environment exciting and pleasurable. The singers are always giddy and crowd-pleasing. The smell in the restaurant hits you right as you enter the door. The pecan wood used in the grill in the back fills the air with a mouth-watering aroma. The inside of the restaurant is creative and beautifully decorated. As the name states, there is a lot of blue; blue lights, blue napkins, even blue tacos if you decide to get them! The paintings on the walls are intriguing and the dining room is filled with cute lamps and such that fit the restaurant perfectly. As for clothing purposes, people are usually seen in jeans or maybe even slacks and dresses. I would say upscale casual. Within the first 30 seconds of being seated I am always greeted by a welcoming and charismatic waiter or waitress. All of the employees at the Blue Adobe Grille are extremely knowledgeable about the restaurant and are able to answer about any question I have whether it be about the menu or the New Mexican theme in general. The waiters and waitresses can describe everything on the menu in full detail. Chips and salsa come out first, and I usually order a side of guacamole. It is to die for! The fire roasted salsa is dark and delicious. It has a smoky flavor that is not too spicy, but definitely has a little kick that makes it amazing. The guacamole is always fresh and delicious as well. The chips are warm and also fresh with the perfect amount of salt, but don’t forget about the bean dip! I usually order my entrée with bean dip instead of regular beans because it is so good. As for entrees go, it is always such a tough decision being that everything on the menu is absolutely enticing! I have 3 favorites when it comes to the Blue Adobe menu. The first are the tacos. Tuesday night is a great night to get tacos at the Blue Adobe Grille because every Tuesday is Taco Tuesday. The chicken lazy tacos are my favorite, but there is also the option of shredded beef, shrimp, or carne adovada. You get any two tacos and rice and beans for not too expensive of a price. The portions are large so I end up taking home leftovers, which is wonderful for later! The tacos, although simple like any taco, are heavenly. Cheese, chicken, Pico de Gallo, cabbage, and Adobo sour cream cause me to savor every last bite. My second favorite is the stacked enchiladas. As the waiter describes it, they are stacked up like lasagna. You get a choice of green or red sauce, or both. I get the chicken stacked enchiladas with green sauce and they are exquisite. The melted cheese on top makes every calorie count when eating these delicious enchiladas. You can even get a fried egg on top which is a New Mexican theme. My top favorite would be the southwest chicken pasta. It is amazing! Linguini pasta with chicken, tomatoes, beans, pine nuts, and a creamy chipotle sauce, so tasty! I crave southwest chicken pasta and it always pulls me back into the restaurant. The service is always great. The bussers are there to fill up drinks and ask if I need anything. The dining room is always full with a full range of people from kids to young adults to elderly couples. The Blue Adobe Grille definitely does a good job of attracting all kinds of customers. I get beyond amazing food for reasonable prices without having to go to a highly upscale restaurant in Scottsdale. Good job Blue Adobe Grille, I will be back soon!
