Esperanza Rising
Esperanza Rising
By: Pam Munoz-Ryan
Ezperanza Ortega is wealthy ranchers daughter she has people all around her that love and care for her. Later a tragic Event changes her life drastically from which she goes from wealthy to dirt poor, she leaves her birthplace of Aguacalientes, Mexico to head for Imperial Valley, California. There she learns that she is more then just a spoiled rich girl and is a worker at heart. Her mother becomes ill with the “Valley Fever” and is forced to stay in the hospital for 8 months, Esperanza also faces people who protest against her company for better wages and living conditions. She also learns that her and her long time admirer Miguel no longer stand on different sides of the river.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves story with beautiful endings, I would describe Esperanza's as a character that went from confused to confident in what she does and whom she is.
