To Kill A Mockingbird MAG

By Anonymous

   I hear a mockingbird singing.

The varied carols I hear.

It brings joy and splendor

to all who listen.

Causing no harm, doing no sin.

the delightful mockingbird enlightens the darkness.

Hunters come and go,

but none dare to kill this defenseless bird.

However, one day, the mockingbird

is seen to have blood seeping from its body.

Yes, the killer was ...

MAYELLA EWELL!

The results of her sin were placed

upon the fate of a young, hardworking, black man.

The color of skin can decide

whether one is going to live or die.

Man's feeble mind can be seen;

just by observing his actions

No hope can be given for the future,

if people can't be judged on who they are.

The poor mockingbird

lay cold and still.

Its strong melodious music becomes softer and softer,

and finally fades into the night.

I have read To Kill a Mockingbird at least three times...my favorite book ever. I liked this poem, but the capitalized Mayella Ewell...I found that a bit immature I guess. It kind of disrupted the flow of the poem, which was otherwise quite nice and very poignant.

Good luck with your writing! :)
