"My heart has joined the Thousand, for my friend stopped running today." - Hazel from the book Watership Down (by Richard Adams).

A wonderfully written book that ties old myths and legends in with love, heart, and tragedy. Selkie Girl is the story of Elin Jean, a young Irish woman who's home lies not on the land or in the sea, but in both. She is a young lady who despises the slaying of innocent selkie pups, and whose blood and bones are filled with the sea. When you turn through the pages of this book, you will learn secrets of the selkies that no human knows, and you will come to appreciate them. You, too, will experience a longing for the ocean, the freedom and terror it can bring, and you will understand the plight of a Selkie Girl, and her journey to belong.
