The quote, and the well written words on the back were what originally what caught my attention, that, and the first chapter.. Ray Bradbury writes with such language, such fluency, such originality, that you can almost here the pages burning, the edges crinkling and drying up, the spark of the lighter. But I'm getting ahead of myself, first you would like to know what the book is about...
Guy Montag is a fireman- although it isn't his job to put out the fire, it's his job to start them.. In a future world where books are banned, and anyone who owns them is considered condemned- lives Guy Montag, who isn't happy with his life, has a wife that thinks the programs on TV she watches are her family(the only one she wants.) The book starts out with Guy on his daily job, raiding a house of books, and setting them, and the house on fire.. The descriptiveness of the first, and all the chapters are written, makes it seem like you are there. You can almost here the spark of kerosene, see the ashes fly in the air, smell the burning of pages. But the book didn't end how I hoped it would, or in that case how I would have expected it too. But none the less it was good, if not slightly depressing because it could be us in a few years.. I have to say, the book had it's extremely excellent moments, and its parts where you had to go back and reread a paragraph because it broke of on a confusing limb... In all its strange and confusing glory I would still recommend the book to anyone with spare time, and in need of a good novel.... All in all, a very good, and slightly trippy book...
