The Hunger Games
Suzanne Collins

Picked for a fight to the death you run, hide, or fight. In the book The Hunger Game by Suzanne Collins, Katniss Everdeen has to decide what to do when she volunteers for her younger sister age twelve when she was picked to participate in the year event in Panem, the hunger games a fight to the death.

The story starts out in Panem a twelve district state from number one being the richest and number twelve being the poorest. Each year one boy and one girl from age twelve to eighteen, from each district have to participate in the hunger games. The hunger games are a live event shown on TV, where they fight each other to the death. The winner who survives walks away in riches. From district twelve then because a complicated affair in which for the first time in the history of the hunger games they got a volunteer Katniss Everdeen. Her younger sister Primm who’s first year to be able to get picked, her name was drawn. Being her older sister and seems very protective she gives her life up to save her younger sister. Kat thinks she will die in the games but she promises Primm the she will win.

For the love of her sister will that be enough to help her win against the others in the hunger games? Will she sacrifice herself for one of the others as she sacrificed herself for her sister? How will she overcome a fear of hurting someone else and being able to live with that? Will a boy complicate things in the hunger games on where she has to decide a horrible fate for herself or another?

I absolutely loved this book. When I started reading this I couldn’t put it down till it was finished. It is a well written book by the amazing author Suzanne Collins. She uses word to pull you into the book and make it seem like you are right along with the main character. How she describes things when they are going on is absolutely fantastic. For me the book was better then the movie because I love to read more than I like to sit down and watch the movie. Reading this book was more pulling then the film because of the way the words were written. I would suggest this novel to anyone that loves to read, and enjoys a great book.
