The Ghosts of Heaven by Marcus Sedgwick
This book is amazing. In the beginning I was so confused, but as you continue to read you understand what is going on. Also, before you start to read the book it says that the author really likes spirals and it shows through out the events of the book. I would also like to say that this is a good book for school and class discussions.
