Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is an action filled movie by Marvel Studios. It is by far one of my favorite movies by Marvel and it is based off of their comics. This movie is about a man, Shang-Chi, who is a martial arts master that no one knows about. He put his past behind him and wanted to have a new start. He is accompanied throughout his journey by his best friend Katy, who he met as he was starting a new life. As he is enjoying his day with Katy he is suddenly attacked by “The Ten Rings” in order to steal a pendant that he wore. The ten rings is a ‘cult’ or organization created by Xu Wenwu. Xu Wenwu is the man who discovered the ten rings, which grant you immortality and give you powers. Xu goes searching for a village, and when he finds it he stumbles across Ying Li, who is the guardian of the village. The two end up falling in love and have a kid, Shang Chi. After his mother passed, his father wanted to train Shang Chi into becoming an assassin. He succeeded and made Shang go on his first mission, which led him to leave his past behind and start anew. Xu still holds the ten rings to that day.

After the attack on the bus he is led to a location by a postcard sent by his sister. After finding his sister, she confesses that she never wrote him a postcard and eventually they are attacked again by the ten rings in hopes of getting both of their pendants. A fight breaks out but as soon as it’s about to come to an end, his father approaches him. He is taken back to his home and is told by his father that his mother is alive and is being held in a dungeon by her village and people. The only way he ‘knows’ is because he hears her calling to him to help her escape. Xu threatens to burn down the village if they don’t let his wife go. Shang and the others do not agree with this plan at all, and because of that Xu imprisoned them until he could go to the village. 

Shang and the others manage to escape and find the village with a little help but others they found along the way. As they arrive at the village they are told by the people that they do not have Shang’s mother in a dungeon. They believe them but his father is making his way to the village as they speak and has to find a way to keep him from opening the dungeon as it is told that the dungeon only holds a dangerous monster. Shang’s father believes otherwise and he preseeds to fight through the village in order to open that dungeon that he believes holds his wife, Ying Li. Will he open the dungeon? Will he find his wife there or come face to face with a monster? The only way to find out is by watching the movie.

In my personal opinion I enjoyed this movie and would definitely recommend it to anyone who is a Marvel fan and or enjoys a good action movie with an interesting background. I am a big Marvel fan so of course I enjoy their movies but I was very entertained with this one. The whole background of Shang Chi’s life added everything together, and the ten rings is an interesting weapon that I have become more interested in. The movie also has it’s funny moments that I love because it’s good for an action movie to have some humor in it. 

I think Marvel should be known for its jokes and humor that is put into most of their movies. It really adds to it instead of being serious throughout the entire movie. I definitely appreciate how the movie ended on a good note. Well somewhat of a good note. You’ll know what I mean when you watch it. Overall the movie kept me very entertained and drawn to it so I would definitely recommend it especially for the Marvel fans. The ending has a big turning point although it might be predictable. Shang Chi is a great movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
