Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest Review
I have always been a fan of action movies. Especially ones with a little bit of comedy in them too. After watching the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie, The Curse of the Black Pearl, I was very excited to watch the second one. The first movie set a very good impression for the series, it had a great way of introducing all of the characters—and it was funny as well.
In the beginning, newly engaged Elizabeth Swan and Will Turner get charged on the accounts of helping Jack Sparrow, a pirate, escape from the hands of the British. If found guilty, they face the death penalty by hanging. The commodore, Cutler Beckett, offers a deal to Will. Retrieve Jack's compass for him, and he will remove the charges against him and his fiancé.
Jack and his crew are on the hunt for the key that unlocks the chest that contains the heart of Davy Jones. His opening scene in this movie is unexpected, but portrays his character and “vibe” very well. It gives him the image of this man who is confident, clueless, and smart all in one. He is impulsive, but somehow always knows what to do in the situation.
Will ends up finding Jack, and tells him about his dilemma. Jack offers a trade. He will give up his compass, and in return Will shall retrieve the key that Jack Sparrow needs. To do that, Will needs to get to Davy Jones aboard the Flying Dutchman.
The way Orlando Bloom plays the character of Will is great, and how he portrays the emotions he has for Elizabeth (played by Keira Knightley) is phenomenal. Throughout the movie you can also see Jack and Elizabeth’s relationship grow stronger, both platonically and romantically. It is interesting to see that, since they come from very different backgrounds. Elizabeth grew up in the capital as the governor's daughter, and Jack has been a pirate his whole life. Opposites attract, as they say. There is a bit of a love triangle between Jack, Will, and Elizabeth.
Overall, this movie was very entertaining. It had a great cast, and the introduction to the villain Davy Jones was very good. It was interesting to see the relationships between the characters, and there was a lot of character development. A lot of people see Jack as a selfish man that only cares about his own self interest. He proves everyone wrong when he comes back to a boat that is being attacked and helps them. They probably all would have died if he hadn't done that.

I love movies, specifically action movies. Recently, I have been watching the Pirates of the Caribbean series, and I enjoyed the second one so much I thought I would make a review on it.
