Jackie Robinson Film

I rate the film Jackie Robinson 4 out of 5 stars. To expand, Jackie Robinson is a film about the life of the famous baseball player Jackie Robinson. The film goes in depth about Robinsons journey towards baseball. In 1945, African Americans like Jackie were not allowed to play baseball or be associated with the white man. Segregation was at one of its all-time highs and no one had faith that it would ever be any different years coming. But knowing Jackie, a hardworking, brave, and courageous man, in 1947, all those barriers were broken after Robinson becomes the first African American to play Major League Baseball. This film does an excellent job of showing the conflicts that Jackie and other African Americans must go through and overcome not even in sports like baseball, but life. It shows the hardships and the effect that one event can have on a person. For example, Jackie wasn’t welcomed by his MLB team… in fact, they all didn’t like him and threatened to quit the majors if they were going to be playing baseball with an African American man. From my perspective, I think this film is extremely impactful. In school, we learn about segregation and how people with different races and religions were separated from others but, I had never learned about segregation in the “sports side” of the world until I watched this film. I would 100% recommend this film to others because it is extremely eye-opening and informational.
