The Hobbit is based on the novel by J.R.R. Tolkien, a prequel to the LOTR trilogy. If you're a super fan of the LOTR then read on! I have to say the movie is a lot more better than the book, only the first one however. That's merely because with the book there is just description and verses for songs plus it's a book made for becoming a major motion picture. The movie has adventure, wonder and certainly humour. It's an amazing film, that perfectly captures the ideas and plots that Tolkien has put down. The main Character, Bilbo, played by Martin Freeman is exceptionally good at playing the role, he looks like a hobbit and behaves like one, on the plus side he's British!

I particularly like the scenery conveyed in the film, it truly reflects the picture created from the book. The old characters are reintroduced also, including Gandalf, the Elves, Gollum and a bit of Frodo himself. It journeys into the past of Bilbo's life, on how he came upon the cursed and 'precious' ring, but also how he came to become good friends with Gandalf. The quality and devotion to the first half of the book is purely beautiful. They follow pretty much everything, perhaps maybe not in order but they really portray it well, almost similar to what I had in mind. The characters are believable and the antagonists- pretty scary, so the film pretty much covers it all. Would I criticise it for anything? Hmm, it is a bit long especially if it is the first part. Besides that, I believe The Hobbit- An unexpected Journey, is a great little bundle of joy, truly moving and captures the best parts of the book itself. I urge you to watch it now, particularly if you are a fantasy/adventure fan.
