Beauty and The Beast

“A tale as old as time" truly describes the movie that tells one of the best stories of all time. Beauty and the Beast is a Disney classic loved by all generations. Making its debut on November 13, 1991 this movie has never stopped to capture the hearts of all who watch it. Beauty and the Beast has been made into the movie, a musical attraction at Walt Disney World, and a Broadway show as well as being a high school production. What is it about this story that grabs the hearts of everyone?

The timeless tale starts with Belle walking through the streets of a crowded and busy small town. Belle is the main character and they moved to the town because of her father who is an inventor. Gaston, an attractive arrogant hunter, has his eye on Belle from the moment she moves into town. Belle's father gets lost and wanders into a mysterious dark castle where a beast, who is really a cursed prince, lives along with his servants. There is Lumiere a candle who is a true romantic, Cogsworth a paranoid clock that is notorious for playing the victim and raking credit for good things, Mrs.Potts who is a bubbly cheerful teapot, and her son Chip who is a funny curious tea cup. Belle embarks on an epic search to find her father who became the Beast's prisoner. She finds him and trades her freedom for his. The spell will break when the Beast learns to love and in turn be loved by his twenty first birthday. Belle and the Beast go from enemies to friends and end up falling in love. I am convinced that that is what adds a twist in the movie and sets it apart from other fairytales.

I think what captures everyone's attention and makes Beauty and the Beast such a loved classic by everyone is the power through the story and the lesson it is teaching. In order for Belle to love the Beast, she has to see past his appearance and into his heart. The movie is extremely well thought out from the beginning to the end.

I believe the true magic of the movie is felt and seen because it is such a unique and well written love story, but, the whole movie isn't about love. It is near the middle to end when they start to fall in love. I think that is what sets it apart because it is not the same old monotonous love story. I give this movie 5 stars because it is just that phenomenal. I have probably seen it about 100 times and it has yet to disappoint me. The movie flows very well and is very cohesive. The music in the movie is what completes the movie and really brings it to life. There is the show stopper “Be Our Guest" and the most well known "Beauty and the Beast". Many people have memorized the songs and know the characters and plot off the palm of their hand, but, I do not believe the true appreciation for the movie comes in until you realize the deeper meaning of the movie.

Beauty and the Beast has stood the test of time and its success proves it. I feel confident in saying that it will never go away. There is something in the movie for everyone. There is a prince in disguise, a girl who is the hero, and a magical curse that is broken by love. There is a funny side kick, an attack on the castle, and a cute ballroom dance scene under the stars and in a ballroom. Most people probably know this scene as the scene that every girl wishes could happen to them. Beauty and the Beast is flawless and is definitely one of my all time favorites. Beauty and the Beast has all of the components a great movie should have. It has a great storyline, characters, music, it is funny and romantic, and is great for all ages. Beauty and the Beast will infinitely be a "tale as old as time", and will never cease to be in the hearts of everyone who sees it forever.
