Rich the Kid: A New Banger?
Released March 22, 2019 Rich the Kid drops yet another hyped album. As he is known for his sick beats and lines the lyrics to this album seem a little for meaningful than usual. This being only his 2nd full length album, the Atlanta rapper has multiple big features such as Big Sean, Gucci Mane, and Migos member: Offset
Compared to his debut album, this sophomore album cover seems darker. While his first album cover colorful and attention grabbing, this album cover seems more mellow and laid back. On the topic of comparisons, his beats are in the same areas as of those in the album DAMN by Kendrick Lamar. Now I am not saying that he copied, but both albums are the same in which you can vibe to them or get hyped in dance. Depending on what mood you are in. This album just like DAMN filled with somewhat relaxing and low toned songs as well as great beat drops and bass sounds.
Starting off with his intro song “World Is Yours 2.” It sets the tone for what the rest of the album would sound like. This song mainly explains all that has changed from when he first dropped his full studio album “The World is Yours” specifically explaining “I used to worry and stress” to further on in the songs say, “Now I’m all rich and wealthy.” It shows how his first album may have changed things for him in a better more convenient way.
On his second Track “Slide” he brags and addresses his successes while others are jealous of what he has done.
“Mama, she proud of me (Proud)/ My b**** bad as can be (Be)/ You n****s is sad to see (Sad)/ Like go get the cash at least (The cash)/ The Bentley a capital B (Skrrt)/ You n****s is mad at me (Mad)/ You would switch up for a chain (A chain)”
This verse explains how he is proud of what does and he is okay with everyone hating because his mom and his significant other are proud of him. He also talks about what some people would do to get to the top or to have materialistic things.
The one things that this album slacked was the change in beat. Throughout most of the album he has similar beats to the previous track almost making it seems like I was listening to the same song over and over.
The whole time I listened to this album, the songs were all good some better than others. But over the feel of this album was definitely positive and it may have been one of his best works. Although, overall he did not get the highest rating, I do think he deserved more because of how unique and catchy his tracks were. Rich the Kid drops yet again a banger album The World is Yours 2.
