I love finding new music. Music runs my life and controls my mood a lot of the time. Music controls my mood. Music can improve my mood, happiness, or energy levels. So, depending on my mood, I like listening to different types of music at different times. There are very few artists or genres of music that can fit any mood, but I may have just found the one.

I’m driving to a ski hill with my friend near the beginning of winter. He tells me that he wants to play this music from an artist he had just recently found that he likes. I’d always been into country music, growing up with it since that’s all my dad ever used to play. But this music that he put on was different. 

It took me a couple songs to realize that this was the perfect kind of different. This music was like a slow country, with a relaxing, poetic, sort of melody to it. Each song that played had a story to it, which stood out to me. Listening to each song was like sitting through a story book, envisioning each part of the story as the lyrics poured out of the song. The songs made you feel emotions, happiness, curiosity, sadness, anything and everything. The guitar melody runs through your head, as it takes you like a roller coaster through the waves of music. The flow of each song was like no other. The river of lyrics poured out of the speakers of the car. Every lyric had a meaning, every word had a purpose. The songs were each like puzzles. Each lyric was a piece that fit perfectly together that constibuted to the overall story.

From listening to Zach Bryan, I’ve discovered a whole new genre of music. This genre containing other musicians such as Tyler Childers, Chris Godwin, and Colter Wall. The genre that this music is specifically from can be classified as many things, some of which include “outlaw country”, “western country”, or “Oklahoma country”. This genre is one that I’ve found to be very peaceful and relaxing most of the time when listening to the stories within the songs.

Overall, Zach Bryan has transformed my music taste and expanded it to many new artists and genres. All of his music has a story to it, which no matter the mood, will bring out a good feeling when listening to it, no matter if that is happiness, comfort, or other feelings. Zach Bryan’s music is extraordinary and can fit anywhere and anyone.
