Sweet Home
“Sweet Home” is a Korean TV series in Netflix. Its original work is in Webtoon (“Webtoon” is Korean cartoon site, we can read that with drawings). "Kim Kan-Bi" and " Hwang Young-Chan" are the authors of the original, and "Lee Eung-Bok" is the director of this TV series. There are several actors in this series, including "Song Kang", the protagonist, and "Lee Jin-Wook", "Lee Si-Young", and "Lee Do-Hyun", the other leading actors. The original story of “Sweet Home” started in 2017, and the TV series was made in 2020. This series is a horror, survival and action genres. In this essay will focus on the stories, graphics, characters and actors.
The protagonist Cha Hyun-Soo (Song Kang) moved to an old apartment by herself. He was subjected to school violence, so he did not go to school. He played only games at home, he hurt himself and he was only waiting for the day he would die. This scene tells us what situation the protagonist was in and why he did this. After that, he opened the front door to check the delivery he ordered, but the delivery he ordered was messed up, and someone ate the food that was inside. The marks were connected to his next door. As he checked next door, he saw the cat's head rolling and the monster's hand took it and ate it. This scene is where the monster first appeared and showed that the monster eats things like animals. When he saw it, he tried to run away to the house, but stepped on the food away and made a noise. The monster reacted to it too, and he ran home and hid. After a while, someone knocked on his door and rang the doorbell. He checked on the monitor, and outside, the woman next door shouted for help. She said that some monster ate her own cat. This scene shows us that a person must pass some time before becoming a monster. She changed only hands to monster, and she was still a human in appearance. But the protagonist realized that she was hiding her hand and asked to show her hand. Then she bleeds from her nose, and she began to get angry. Every time she knocked on her door, the iron door bent. Then suddenly there was a guitar sound upstairs and the monster went upstairs. These scenes are early in the series and are very tense.
When I was watching this series, I felt interesting. It used many CG for express monsters, but it wasn't awkward. I noticed that the instead of felt monsters were very realistic and scary. When the protagonist and the monster fight, that was very gorgeous. It was enough to express the look and movement of the monsters. The monsters looked real, so I looked more immersive and fun.
In the characters of Sweet Home, there are several characters related to the main character. Cha Hyun-Soo's actor is Song Kang. He is 26 years old, and he debut when he was 24. Sweet Home is the sixth work he has appeared in. He improved the completeness of the work with his excellent acting. Pyeon Sang-Wook's actor is Lee Jin-Wook. He is 39 years old. He made his first debut as an advertising model in 2003. He has been loved since his debut for his handsome appearance and good acting skills. Lee Si-Young acted a character named Seo Yi-Kyung in this series. Before she became an actor, she was a boxer. She has immense is full of her stamina, and competitive spirit, and shows her excellent athletic skills. Even in her "Sweet Home", she shows tremendous muscles and she amazed everyone. Lee Do-Hyun plays a character named Lee Eun-hyuk in the work. He made his first debut as a drama in 2017. His debut film became a huge hit, and he appeared in several dramas and became a famous actor. Most of the actors who played "Sweet Home" are famous or are very good at acting. Therefore, the degree of completion of this work has been further improved.
Sweet Home has characters with multiple personalities. There are several characters such as Cha Hyun-Soo, Lee Eun-hyuk, Pyeon Sang-Wook, Seo Yi-Kyung, and Jung Jae-Hun. Cha Hyun-Soo is a main character in “Sweet Home”. He was violated at school in the past. So, he didn't go to school after that, and he was playing only games at home. He routinely hurt himself, hoping to die. Then one day his family offered him to go on a trip, and he refused. So, the family eventually went on a trip without him, but his family died in a car accident on their way to their destination. Cha Hyun-Soo, who is left alone, moves to an old apartment called "Green Home" to save money. In this work, he also showed symptoms of monstrosity, but he is enduring with a strong mental power. As a result, the monstrosity is not caused by a virus. Eun-Hyuk Lee is the smartest person in the green home. He is a medical student and is a leader in the Green Home. He has a brilliant brain to provide solutions in many situations, such as food distribution and how to deal with monsters. When he first encountered a monster with people, he quickly grasped the situation and then bravely kicked it out. Pyeon Sang-Wook, one of the main characters in this work, is different from the original work of this work. In the original work, he is a former criminal, but in this work, he is a hitman, working in various crimes. In this work, he has a dark personality, but in the original, he has a large body and a pleasant personality. However, He is good at fighting and only maintains that he oversees the power of the party, and he has become a new character with the same name, which is completely different from the original character to the background. Some people were dissatisfied with the changed setting, but the actor's good acting ability was not awkward in the work and was popular. Seo Yi-Kyung is a newly added character in this work. In her original work, most of her roles were played by Pyeon Sang-Wook, but in this work, most of her. She is the only government affiliated with her "Green Home". She is a former firefighter from special forces. She was about to marry her at the time, but she was a prospective bride, but some sort of incident ends her breaking up from her husband. She is a character who takes the initiative in doing bad things that other people can't do. Since she is from a special force, she has the only connection with the government. Jae-Hun Jung is a Korean language teacher and a devout Protestant believer. He is also good at swordsmanship because of the kendo he has been steadily learning since childhood. When he fights a monster, he fights with a long sword. He is an important figure in the fight against monsters because he is good at swordsmanship. His character is bright and philosophical. In addition, there are several key figures such as Yun Ji-Soo and Lee Eun-Yu. Every character has its own personality, and these personalities don't let you feel bored when telling the story.
"Sweet Home" leaves a question about "What is Desire?", not just a horror series. It doesn't appear in the TV series, but "It becomes a monster in the form of desires that people had. That desire has an ego and lures people to open some inner door, turning the body into a monster." Because of the setting, I was able to leave a question of "What is desire?" I watched both the original and the TV series. In the original, a lot of stories were told in a sufficient amount, but since there are only 10 episodes in the TV series, I usually told a few stories. Also, the TV series has been criticized for its slightly different content and characters from the original, but I think "Sweet Home" is a sufficiently fun and worth watching TV series.
