“It’s the greatest thing since sliced bread” by Don Robertson. This is my opinion of the new EA Sports Football game Madden NFL 16. Madden 16 is my favorite game that EA Sports has made with a whole lot of new things. In my essay I will tell, What’s new with Madden, Connected Franchise, and Skills Trainer/Gauntlet. What’s new with Madden 16? With new Air Supremacy throwing and catching technique it is easier to make that quick pass or the long deep ball to a stud wide receiver. For example if a wide receiver is running a comeback you would hold left trigger (for Xbox) and press A, B, Y, or X to throw a low pass close to the ground. If you use this pass the right way it is almost impossible for the defence to intercept it. With the new catching technique there are 3 different ways to catch the ball. One way is to press and hold Y. This will make an aggressive catch, this is used for deep throws to jump up and catch the ball. The second type is to press and hold X. This will make a RAC catch or Run After Catch. This type of catch is good when you are wide open anywhere on the field. The third type of catch is a positional catch this can be done by pressing and holding A. This catch is used when the receiver is in a lot of traffic or if it’s 4th down. There is also a new game mode you can play. It’s called Draft Champions. If you like fantasy football you will love this new game mode. One of the let downs is you have to have Xbox Live to play. Start by being the General Manager, after picking 1 of 3 coaches, you are shown 1 of 3 players. Pick one that could make the team better, but you might want to wait. Because there are 15 rounds to pick and in the next round there could be the same position but better. Then take to the field and play a three minute quarter game. Compete with other players and upgrade your team as you go. 

If Fantasy Football isn’t your thing then there is, one of my favorite modes, Connected Franchise. Connected Franchise is a very easy mode to play in. First you start off picking either cloud or offline. After picking one of these, you will pick your team. When you pick your team you choose either to be a General Manager, a Coach, or a player. If you pick to be a General Manager, there are two ways to be one. There is Active General Manager or there is create. When you want to make a General Manager there are three ways to create. First there is Former Player, second there is Lifelong Fan, and third there is Financial Mogul. If you don’t like the sound of being a General Manager there is being a coach. When you select to be a coach you can pick to be an active coach or create. When you create there are three options. One is to be a motivator, second is a strategist, and the third and final is team builder. Now if you don’t like to sound of either of the ones that I have mentioned there is to be a player. When you pick to be a player it is the same as the last two, create or active. If you pick create you can pick offense or defense. The thing about offense is that you can only pick a playmaker. But on defense you can pick any position. If this creation is not what you like, there is the creation center where you can customise your own player make him a 99 overall. With the creation center you can pick anyone position you want. If you want to be punter you can, or even the best quarterback in the league.

Now if you want to get better at the game there is Skills Trainer. Skills Trainer is a place where you can get better with the new controls or even learn new play types. When you select Skills Trainer you play drills against a team of your choice. If you want to become very good on offense, it is a good idea to pick a team with a good overall defense. the same thing goes with defense, if you want to be great pick a team with a good past or run game. This will make you ready for anything you are faced with. Now it want a challenge there is Gauntlet. Gauntlet is a place where you will put your skills to the test. You will be challenged with anything from defense to offense even special teams. Every 5th level there is a “BOSS LEVEL” this event is awesome in my opinion sometimes you get to try a 100 yard field goal in hurricane winds, or run 100 yards behind your offensive line while there are trying to block the 11 guys on defence. In Gauntlet you get 5 lifes. So if you fail a level you lose a life. Sometimes there will be a level where if you pass you get a life back.

In this essay I have told you what’s new with Madden 16, Connected franchise, and Skills Trainer/Gauntlet. In my opinion Madden 16 is the best game EA Sports has made yet.
