Gone Daddy Gone
Gone.
At the age of 2
I looked up to say dada
But all that is there is the smile of my mother
Mother who is also my father.
He left me.
He left us for doing something stupid
Bad decisions got the best of him
Never had anyone to look up to
I became a man adapting my life to change
Speaking to him makes my body quiver
I always wanted to ask
How does it feel to never see your son become a man.
How does it feel to leave your children
Barely ever calling
When you do I feel nothing
Daddy
What an awkward word
It’s only awkward when you feel abandoned
Abandoned by one that should always be there
What can you do but move on
Go until you can’t remember the past
Not as if the past is lost forever
But just a mindless thought you never want to remember
Man….
It’s just too hard for me to forget
