Fortune Favors The...
They say fortune favors the weak
I can’t agree
If so, why doesn’t fortune favor me?
I need help
Trapped in this mess
I’m in distress
Falling like an angel
From grace
Spinning past the stars
And into space
Can’t breathe
Can’t leave
Caught in this epiphany
Of all I did wrong
Before, to others
Who called me names and said I didn’t belong
Sticks and stones broke their bones
All the words that hurt me
Well up on my pages in quick drying ink
Once neon pink but dulled by age
In my pen
I told my friends
I would never write an ‘emo poem’
Far too humorous and fun
I was the sunshine
In the cold September months
Would never be an emo artist
For as long as I lived
I’m still there
But trapped beneath despair
Facade
Is now the word
I put in the boxes of websites that said ‘describe yourself’
Because I couldn’t think of anything else to put
And I kept my profile private
Anyways
They say fortune favors the weak
I can’t agree
If so, why doesn’t fortune favor me?
