The Light-Keeper's Daughter
Deep as the depths,
But strong like the sea,
Are the eyes of the Light-keeper's Daughter.
And like pools of pure crystal,
With shine and sheen bright,
Are the eyes of the Light-keeper’s Daughter.
Her hair like satin nigh flawless,
Her face and form are fair,
But deign to look into her eyes,
And see a wise soul there.
When but a child playing in the glade,
Under the Light-keeper’s care,
Her Father told her of God’s Love,
And what it meant to Her there.
Soon after She chose slavery,
But not of a cold hard master,
Instead a triune Savior,
Who always wants the best for Her.
She read His words,
And She believed,
Some call Her gullible,
And some deceived.
But in time when faith was lacking,
And Her heart was full of fear,
She felt Her Master touch Her soul,
“Be still, for I am here.”
Though God Her Father,
Still Christ Her Master,
Keeping His commandments.
Behold the Light-keeper’s Daughter,
Far more valuable than precious jewels.
Behold the Light-keeper’s Daughter,
More beautiful in soul than even in shell.
Behold the Light-keeper’s Daughter,
Who waits for only one Man.
Young Men,
Be you worthy of this shining creation,
So fair in both spirit and face?
Will She be deserved when You marry,
Or will you marr that faith?
So deign to become righteous,
To be deserving of this Maid,
Stand fast in Christ,
A new creation,
Godly, richly made.
Behold the Light-keeper’s Daughter,
So fair in face and form.
Behold the Light-keeper’s Daughter,
So strong in spirit and faith.
She waits for One,
Thus do the same,
And so deserve Her then.
And wait for Her,
She waits for You,
And the reward is surely great.
Her worth is far above diamonds,
Her worth is greater than gold,
And so become worthy of Her,
Forever to have and to hold.
