On Your Heels
The Days are flying passed us.
Today always returns, yet differently each time, taking on new names: July Thirty First then August First.
And we always fear of Tomorrow.
It always threatens to come, looming, getting closer by the minute and waiting to overtake Today.
All the while Yesterday, he's a different story.
Forever tripping on the edge of our heels,
whispering in our ears,
the mistakes we made to ruin that day,
that fateful day,
carrying the burdens of our deeds,
treading behind us, unforgiving,
and vowing never to be forgotten.
