Look.
Down.
At the cool blue-green water
So far below
Waves crashing against the pier
My feet curl against its gritty cement
Heart beating a mile a minute
Fear twists
In my stomach
Life jacket
Constricting
Wind rapidly parts my sun-streaked hair
My fists clenched
So tightly
They turn blue
A breath
Step
Then leap
