No, You Cannot MAG
It is a new nation,
a nation that proudly proclaims:
“Yes we can.”
But what power holds “yes we can,”
when America has told many of our
brothers and sisters
“no, you cannot”?
You cannot follow your heart.
You cannot move forward.
You cannot take a hand.
You cannot break the mold.
“Marriage is a holy bond
for a man and a woman
it is not yours to taint,” they say.
Where is the future?
Relentlessly we must
keep striving for a better day.
We must stop this hatred
and bring about change in the
wake of defeat.

MT14, who defines 'marriage' as you perceive it to be between a man and a woman? Some group of males who wrote a book hundreds of years ago? You may claim that it comes from God, but humanity has always distorted 'God' and His messages for their own purposes. Need I mention the Crusades? The destruction of the Huguenots? The 30 Years War? you CAN marry someone of the same gender, you have just been taught not to, or are too scared to do so.
Ellemarie, I suggest that you look at the world with your own eyes, and make your own decisions. Society has taught you to think of marriage as a one-on-one heterosexual union, but it is only the commonly accepted definition.
1. No, I don't think God changes. He has his rules and we should live by them.
2. Every other country has borders, why can't America. If "illegals" want to become legal, they need to come in the right way, not show disregard for our laws by breaking one the moment they come in.
3. Tell me how we discriminate against hispanics. And, since we are fighting a war aginst people who are mostly muslim, isn't it reasonable to suspect them over a chinese person or something? I don't agree with racial profiling, but i understand we are in a war, and if we do everything we can so we don't offend anyone, bad things will happen. The Fort Hood shooter stayed in the Army because his superiors didn't want to offend muslims. Now people are dead.
@always-sunshine:
God didn't put the thought of being gay in people's head. That was the devil. Why would God say that marrige is a holy bond between a man and a woman and then put the thought of being gay in someone's mind? It doesn't make any sense. Ever since Lucifer left heaven he's been screwing with our minds. Even now, he's putting that thought in people's mind. So, I'm not sorry, I believe you're wrong.
This poem is very well written, I'll give you that, but the people have voted. Men cannot marry men and women cannot marry women. I am Christian as well and I wish you all would realize how wrong the very concept is. God created man and woman, so it should stay.
I in no way have a problem with gay people, only with their beleifs.
